Mike Gill is a busy musician/composer working mainly around Central Scotland. Based in Kilmarnock, he has owned and run various music stores, and toured Europe demonstrating organs and keyboards.
He started composing in the early '80s and had great success with a piece called "Fleur Blanche" - an instrumental for flute and orchestra. Several BBC TV and radio plays followed including a performance by the BBC Radio Orchestra. Fleur Blanche is currently being re-recorded and will be released later in the year.
Recently, the release of a CD called "The Sleeping Warrior" has attracted a lot of radio play including BBC Radio Scotland "Reel Blend" and "Karyn Mac's Saturday Night Show" on Radio Westsound. It has also had several plays on local radio such as Oban FM.
Originally released as a single, it is now available on an album called "Mike Gill - Heading Home" along with a pipe version by Calum Watson of Dumfries. Included are another eight original new tracks. The album has a relaxing Celtic West Coast sound.
